Moving On...

OK.

The last post was not intended to insult or cause injury. It was merely a response to a personal challenge that I simply wanted to be clear about.

Moving on...

The opening reception was great. There were quite a number of people in attendance and the images were a big hit with everyone. I think I was able to relate, through the photographs, what the project was about. If only I was able to speak more eloquently. I made 20 DVDs and put them out only to sell all 20! Awesome. There is talk of funding three more of these projects, one for each remaining season. That's an exciting possibility.

Triple Foam Protection . 2008

As some of you know, after more than seven years, this will be my last full week at the lab. I was offered the opportunity to fill some big shoes and I am gladly taking the position. Beginning the 17th, I will be working as a photojournalist for the Coeur d'Alene Press. I am excited for the new atmosphere and pace as it will be challenging at times yet very rewarding . This is a great opportunity to build on my portfolio, make some great stories/projects, as well as make some new connections and broaden my photographic range. One thing I am particularly excited about is the multimedia projects Jerome and I will be working on. This is something new to the paper and it should be a great learning and story telling tool. I said that this will be last full week at the Corral. By that I mean I will pop in from time to time to lend a hand where I can.

There are many things going on in my head regarding this new position. How will my personal style and way of working be affected, or affect, the way I will work as a photojournalist? How will this opportunity influence, or be influenced, by the principles that I work under now? I will open this discussion in a near post(s).

Your company will be missed at the CC. Not only for all that you contribute to the store and lab, but your quick wit…he's got money:)

I take comfort in the knowledge that most CC alumni are always popping in. Just don't forget us lil' people!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YES! You got the job

and

your show/film was a smashing success!

Good work! Looking forward to hanging out again when I'm back during the summer.

We should do that traveling camera project we talked about so long ago. You know with a particular phrase being the photographic challenge...

...The coast is clear.

Thanks Kirk. Yeah, we should do that project/photo challenge. I think it could be amazing. Shall I start collecting participants information?

First let me say .... Congratulations on a new job.... how exciting to be jumping into a new world.... Yes the CC will never be the same without you, but I am sure that now the CDA Press will never be the same as well and you will be a positive dynamic to the photojournalism world.... Good luck... it will be nice to see how this new direction will shape you and your work from here on out.... Excited for you!
